Lake Mojave Desert Willow - April, 2022
Study of a tree in Lake Mojave. Cottonwood East Rd near Dolan Springs, Arizona, leads to Pot Cove on Lake Mojave. Depending on the amount of water released from Hoover Dam upstream the tree may be high and dry or well watered. This day the "tide" was high. This collection includes normal lens images and pinhole images. Both polarized and non-polarized images are shown. The effects of the polarizer are dramatic. (Click on the hard-to-find Read More on the right for more discussion.)
HDR images are present. Bracketed sets of nine exposures, using one stop between shots, were combined with Photomatix software using the Photographic preset.
Finally, results of in-camera "multiple exposures" are also shown. Ten sequential images were combined using 10% gain on each, yielding one image. The wind had come up when these were shot and the technique smoothed out the water. There were actual tiny breakers in the individual shots.
The images were made with a Nikon Z 7ii camera with a 24-70 lens or a home-made pinhole body cap.
The difference in the images, especially the monochromatic ones, is more easily determined with a large screen.
