Nelson's Landing
Nelson's Landing is in Nevada in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. It is on the Colorado River several miles downstream from Hoover Dam. I drove down here for two reasons: (a) to verify that the new fuel pump in my Land Cruiser was working correctly and (b) to check out a new camera and lens. All worked well.
The image was made with a Nikon D3x body and the new 28-300 zoom. This image was stitched from a dozen individual images. Exposure settings were ISO 800, 1/160 sec, f22, focal length was 78mm. Of course on a tripod. The images were accidentally saved as 70-75 megabyte TIF files (not 50 meg RAW files). The only Photoshopping applied is Auto Color, Pixel Genius High Pass Sharpener 2, and PG Boost Contrast 2. The combined panorama is about 120 inches wide by 11.3 inches high at 300 dpi.
When I made a hugh panorama on film in the 1980s I never imagined how simple the procedure would become thirty years later.
